Belize City
With miles of lush tropical rain forest, a gorgeous Caribbean coastline and the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, it doesn't take long to realize why Belize City is known as "The Jewel." Located between Mexico and Guatemala, Belize possesses a unique combination of modernity and rustic Caribbean charm. Ancient ruins indicate that Belize was first inhabited by the Mayans in 900 A.D. Hunting Caye
One of the most beautiful beaches in Belize exist on Hunting Caye. A high coral sand beach in the shape of a half moon lines the eastern shore. This beach is also a main turtle nesting site. A lighthouse, immigration post, and a BDF guard station are based on the island.
San Pedro Town (Ambergris Caye)
San Pedro Town is on the island of Ambergris Caye.
One of the primary industries in the town is tourism, most notably Scuba Diving. So many visitors are divers that there is even a hyperbaric decompression chamber on the island, despite its small population.
San Pedro is said to be referenced in the song La Isla Bonita by the pop singer Madonna. The song's title has become the island's and town's favorite nickname.
