Aurora

Operated by P&O Cruises

About the Aurora

Aurora had a spectacular start to her life. On 16th April 2000 she made the short journey from her German shipbuilders, Meyer Werft. Sailing into her home port of Southampton, she was escorted by the "Tall Ships". Shortly afterwards, she was named by the Princess Royal.

This £200m ship incorporated every advance in engineering, navigational equipment and passenger comfort. She can cruise at a speed of 24 knots, be positioned to within 6 inches during docking and has been designed especially for British cruise passengers. Features such as a swimming pool with a retractable roof, golf simulator and a virtual reality centre have earned her a very loyal following.

Taking her cues from her extensive travels, Aurora’s rooms combine influences from around the globe. Stylish yet unstuffy, Aurora caters for families, couples and solo travellers with ease. An effortlessly tasteful interior invites you to relax and watch the world go by. Boasting every type of accommodation from an inside cabin to a lavish two-tier suite with butler service, she has something to suit every pocket.

Activities

With bustling cities and scenic vistas to explore almost every day on some cruises, your time away is certain to be packed with new and exciting experiences. And all the activity needn’t stop on sea days. Port presentations help you to find out all the must-see sights and gain a deeper insight into the history and culture of every approaching destination. Activities such as art auctions, dance lessons and galley tours, add interest and variety. And you can surf the net in the cyb@study, keep fit in the gym, pamper yourself in the spa and much more besides.

Entertainment

As the sun goes down, Aurora lights up! With everyone dressed for dinner and ready to be sociable, you’ll find there’s a great atmosphere. Knowing that there are many options for the night ahead, all just a step away, is invigorating. So whether you start the night with a drink on your own balcony or head to one of the many bars to meet friends, you know every night holds numerous possibilities.

Take a seat in the lavish surroundings of the Curzon Theatre to take in a show. Discuss your day ashore and make plans for the next in one of the many bars. Watch cabaret or comedians in Carmen’s showlounge. Take in the latest blockbuster in The Playhouse cinema. Enjoy the excitement of the casino. And dance your way through the decades with tunes from the 60’s to the present day in Masquerade.

Dining

As you take in the splendours of the Mediterranean, the Baltic, the Atlantic Isles or even the world, Aurora’s chefs create an eclectic array of dishes. Take breakfast out in the open air on your own balcony or on deck by The Orangery. At the buffet court there’s plenty to choose from. From fresh rolls, preserves, juices, cereals and yoghurts to a full cooked breakfast with all the trimmings. Another day you might opt for a pastry or croissant in Café Bordeaux, Aurora’s 24 hour French-style bistro. And if you favour a leisurely start and waiter service, the elegant main dining room offers a full breakfast menu.

The Sidewalk Café serves a range of hot snacks, such as burgers and samosas. Perfect for a casual lunchtime meal. The Orangery will have your tastebuds tingling with anticipation at the sight of crisp salads, pasta dishes, curries, desserts and fresh fruit. And if you crave quieter surroundings, Café Bordeaux offers snacks to suit the time of day.
